Peripeteia by Sarah Lyons Fleming

5.0

Sarah Lyons Fleming's books are always bumped to the top of my to-be-read list upon release. Its not just that I love zombie books (which I do), but because Fleming's writing is so amazing. Her descriptions paint the world and its scenes so clearly that it runs like a movie in my mind as I read. Despite her detailed world building, her books never get bogged down in long descriptions and needless dialogue. Her books flow organically, feeding details as it goes. Her characters are realistic, interesting and pull you into their own stories. Knowing from her previous series what was going to happen to some of these characters ahead of time, did not deter me from wanting to know their full stories. I found myself trying to prepare myself for a loss I knew was coming, but was unable to do so.
I laughed out loud and I cried hard. I was fearful for characters and angry for others.
You'd think that an author who so brutally illustrates with every book that happy endings are never a guarantee, but loss is, that the writing would be despairing and bleak, but her books are full of fight and hope and enduring spirit.
