An enjoyable follow-up to Abarat #1. The world-building and character designs continue to be absolutely bonkers and fun. If you had issues with the pacing in the first book they continue here. I don’t like to write spoilery reviews so I will just say with the way Days of Magic, Nights of War ends I’m not surprised that I thought that was the end of the series when I first read it as a twelve year old.
Minor: Child abuse, Gore, Child death, and Death
A dude does get eaten by giant bugs on page but it isn’t graphically described
