This is...a strange book. It's not bad, the concept is solid actually, but the vibe is just very weird! This first book is a boring intro to the world and relationships, but you can feel that something is going to happen so it makes you wanna keep reading. And I get that the dynamic is slave/master or servant/master whatever, but there was a strange abundance of like sexual violence like even outside of that dynamic! I don't know why rape is all these villainous and sexually free people can come up with in the form of sexual pleasure/punishment! Apart from that, the pacing was also off....

but

you can't tell that this is setting up a hot romance until it nears the end (apart from just knowing that this is a fantasy romance) and I am absolutely buying what Damen and Laurent are selling and tbh I hate that for me!!!
