annaleechristopher 's review for:
All My Mothers
by Joanna Glen
I bought this book over a year ago at Waterstones and just now picked it up to read. I was not expecting something that had been staring at me for so long to be a 5-star read, but it was. All My Mothers is a beautiful story about the relationships between mothers and daughters, the mothers we are given by birth, and those around us who become impactful mother figures. Eva's story was confusing at first, but I kept reading it, and it turned into a whirlwind of emotions, longing, attachment, and a constant need to have someone around for love. Glen's writing was magnificent, and I constantly underlined sentences that spoke beyond the pages and the story itself. I finished the book feeling so grateful for the female friendships I have in my life, for the women who have shown me family and love when I felt as though I was drowning, and all the maternal figures I have ever had in my life who have raised me into the person I am today.
