Olive, Again
by Elizabeth Strout
Quirky characters abound in this excellent sequel to Olive Kittredge also by this author. The story revolves around Olive and the neighbors and friends that comes into contact with towards the end of her life. Thus, it is a story of reflection, of love, and of living and dying...
Not only were the characters unique and memorable, the author's use of setting is outstanding. Her descriptions of the Maine country side and the houses there, added to the reader's sense of being there, right with the characters.
However, this reader could have done without the references to politics made toward the end of the book. Olive says at one point that the sticker on the back of a truck, is stupid because it depicts that orange haired president. Not necessary, at all!!
