WHAT A CURVE BALL STEVE THREW IN.

For a previous dead man and stranger Steve came off so strong trying to lay rules and be a father to Ella. I think part of his behavior was first time father jitters as well as
the guilt he felt over the fact that Reed (his daughter’s boyfriend and his godson) was currently the main subject for a murder that Steve had committed. Towards the end I never thought I would find myself rooting for Dinah as she protected Ella and herself.

I know it was to keep the plot going because the authors wanted to drop the big plot twist of Steve being a killer.
But why did no one question the dead man who suddenly just reappeared very alive right after Reed gets hauled off in handcuffs.
I do feel bad for Calum though for losing his unborn child even if he didn’t have strong feelings for Brooke and was marrying her only out of responsibility.

I wish we dove more into the fact that Dinah tried to kill Steve and failed. Also Dinah being so shaken up over Brooke’s death I didn’t realize they were actually friends and not just two women gold digging. I didn’t care much for Brooke’s death but I think if we got more of her back story and could see her motivations then maybe I would have cared more.

To be honest, I think this book wrapped up Ella and Reed’s story well.
Reed is free with all charges dropped and is off to college where Ella will join him a year later.
This leaves me to wonder what the next two books will be about. Maybe we’ll get more about the other brothers. Why make a big deal about there being 5 brothers for us to barely get to see who they really are?
