I liked the idea of telling a 100 years of a country’s story through the lense of one woman’s life. However, at times it read a bit like a Wikipedia entry. Even in the parts that concerned very sensitive, personal experiences, the narrator appeared to be detached from herself. That’s why, in the end, I didn’t feel very touched by the story.
