Royal Holiday by McKenna James
5.0
Sometimes its nice to be whisked away in a fairy tale and McKenna James has done just that with her book, Royal Holiday. We meet Princess Marina who is bored with her normal life. The holidays are now on in full force and so is the Christmas Masquerade Ball hosted by her family. In true fashion, her mother tries to match her up with royal men, but then a stranger comes to her rescue. But is he a stranger? Familiar but unaware of who he is, Marina dances and falls for him. After bad blood between this father and Marina's, Rodrigo has come back to find his first love. Will these two find their second chance happiness? I was enraptured in this story of true romance. Rodrigo is the man we all long for, with ways of capturing Marina's heart for a second time. Marina is a strong and opinionated woman, and does not back down from what she wants. It's a wonderful listen, sweeping you up in the holiday spirit with true love.
Sally Roughton is a new narrator to me, and I enjoyed her performance. At times I found it a little difficult to distinguish between characters, but she has a soothing voice, and good pacing. I will be watching for more by her.
