Magnificent Ms. Marvel #1: Director's Cut by Minkyu Jung, Saladin Ahmed

4.0

A great first issue for Magnificent Ms. Marvel. I love that there’s a bit of a recap in here, for the new fans out there. Better yet, the recap isn’t too long, so fans that have been following the series the whole time won’t go crazy reading it.
Saladin Ahmed is clearly taking his job seriously and is doing his best to portray Kamala in a believable light. I love that he’s being so careful with her, while also taking risks with the plot itself.
The introduction to this issue is an interesting one, and I’ll be curious to see if that repeats in future issues. I can see it going either way, to be honest. But my money is on us seeing it again – it feels like a longer form of storytelling.
