I’ve had this book for some time now and after finishing it, there is a reason why I put off reading it. This had potential, but unfortunately, this was another example of when a plot tries to do entirely too much. These plot lines were all over the place and the random twist at the end didn’t really add anything to the story. Also, there is no trigger warning for the sexual assault that Brooke mentions in the story, and I found it incredibly problematic that part of the plot line would be for her character to blame Cass/Meghan for her sexual assault but not go after Eric when he’s the one who did it. Sure, Cass told lies that she didn’t need to tell, but her being blamed for Eric’s actions just didn’t feel right, regardless of how guilty Brooke ultimately felt in the end when the “truth” came out. Brooke’s messiness led to Cass’s death.
