Red Sister by Mark Lawrence

5.0

When you think a character has reached their peak and they just walk out and become even more badass... damn.

I hit a slump midway through reading this and took a break, only to sit through and finish the other half tonight.

Mark Lawrence has a writing style that sinks deeper than most authors, the world building, the characters and the way some of them tip toe over the line of taboos and engage us. I am forever amazed with how the protagonist isnt a hero, isnt a good person - but is flawed, tainted, evil in their own ways. I can connect with imperfect characters who have something to prove but could still kick ass.

Easily won a special place on my favourites shelf.
