This is a really good book but probably a bit of a difficult read for some. Its topics are very intense and some may not find it the most engaging of books, but the themes are so important to acknowledge—it brings to life a time that wasn’t all that long ago, and you see ideologies that were somehow believed in. The characters are really well-developed, William in particular was my favourite because I liked the way he debated what exactly he believed in. All of the different ‘groups’ like the People or Swing Low were really interesting too. I think it would’ve been cool to explore William becoming Greene’s foreman a little more, though. It would’ve been interesting if he was forced to maintain a similar role to Cupid and essentially turn against his own people for Greene. Otherwise, though, it was a really good book and an interesting read.
