Another Appalachia was engaging. The tagline "coming up queer and indian in a mountain place" led me to believe the book would be more focused on childhood itself but it's moreso reflections on the author's childhood as an adult. I enjoyed it but it was not what i expected, if that makes sense.

From a craft perspective, the creative nonfiction elements fell a little flat for me with the reflective tone leading to an approach that is more telling than showing. But otherwise i really enjoyed the writing.
