The first half of the book was incredibly slow — pacing was almost nonexistent. I originally planned to rate this book a 2 because it felt as if nothing was happening. However, around the 50% mark, things seemed to pick up incredibly fast.
I was not particularly surprised by the things that ended up happening, especially having read the first book, but it was still tragic and a shock to the senses.
The characters are tough to connect with—for good reason, but nevertheless this caused me to struggle with much of the book.
Ultimately the book forces you to reconcile with the stories of each every character in the book, uniquely tragic and triumphant.
