What a beautiful story! This is the story of a girl growing up in the marshlands of North Carolina and learning to navigate life and love and so many other things. It was heartbreaking and exciting and hopeful. I loved the setting of the story and the author really brought the marsh to life. Although not perfect, I also really liked how the author portrayed true love compared to lust. It's been awhile since I've read a novel that I felt deserved five stars, and I'm glad to finally break the rut. I managed to read almost the entire second half of the book in a day, and that's while also taking care of a 3-month-old!
