Ultimately for me this was a lesson in "don't read fanfiction for books you really really like already". I love Pride and Prejudice a lot - I have read and reread it countless times - so while this was definitely answering a very interesting question (what if Elizabeth had accepted Darcy's first proposal?) it turns out I'm not as interested in that answer than I thought I would be.

For what it is, it's good. I think it goes on a little too long given we know the endgame, and Darcy is also a little too horny for me (he's only a tiny bit horny, but again, I have read P&P *so many times* it is really hard for me to let go of anything that feels different from the original novel, even a little bit). I don't not recommend it. Whether you are only passingly familiar with P&P and want a different telling of it or you're very familiar with the story and are interested in how it could be reworked, it has some appeal. In the end I prefer the original though.
