The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

There are series of books that have an epic scope and then there is Mistborn. The scope, the epicness, the overall arching plotlines and the masterful composition of the book. From clues and hidden nuggets of information to the characters who are not who we thought they were. Everything comes together like a jigsaw puzzle cut by a master of the craft.

I'd go as far as calling Sanderson not a writer, but an artist.

The plotting of the book is airtight. There are no dull moments, everything comes together in the end, pieces fitting with each other in laser precision.

What can I say about the book without spoiling anything in it? It's an experience in its own and it's a ride that comes with ups, downs, and lot of twists. You just have to experience it for yourself.

My only personal caveat and this is no fault of the book, only that I have been ruined by reading too much Grimdark fantasy. I wanted more evil, bloodshed, violence, sex, death, and drugs. But the book steers away from all these with ease. Maybe I'll read another book for these, but for now, Mistborn was pretty good.
