I think the writing, the plot and the portrayal of lives 'separated', is well done in this book, though grievous for all to endure.
Well worth the time to understand the plight of those diagnosed with Hansen's disease, early on before it was understood more. Do we always fear the unknown, and not understood? I suppose so.

There is some what I will call 'factual sex' about mid-way through the book, which you can skim now that you are alerted.
