Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie

This book was hard for me to get into and I re-started it twice. The worlds in this book and their societies and customs are so complex, my mind just took some time to grasp them. It was worth the effort as the story and characters are really different than anything I had read before.
The story is told in basically two different times using alternating chapters. I enjoyed getting the back story as you were moving through the actual story.
Gender is fluid in throughout the story and can change depending on the setting. At first this was confusing but I grew to love the concept. Characters can be more than one person or object which was also new and at times confusing but overall wonderful.
I listened to the audiobook which I thought was well done. I do think I would like to read the actual book and will probably do that before moving on with the series.
