Blood Infernal by James Rollins

3.0

Well, I've finally finished it. I've gotta say, not Rollins' best work. Yes, the action bits and the sexy bits were on point, but everything else? The tension did not keep to Rollins' standard with his other books, particularly his Sigma Force series, and yes, it may have been Rebecca Cantrell's parts that I didn't like, but for a book about vampires and demons and Lucifer, this one was pretty lax.
The characters were great, yes, but all a little anticlimactic and cliched. All the right people died and all the right people got together. For an end of trilogy book, it was everything that I expected and nothing I didn't expect, which, after reading Rollins for years now, disappointed me more than the book itself being lackluster.
I'll keep reading Rollins, for sure, but I gotta say, if I had a say in the matter, I would not read Cantrell. Her bits just dragged the whole book down (at least the bits that didn't seem like Rollins' to me).
But hey, if you're looking for a predictable book about vampires with a limited cast of characters, this trilogy is just right for you.
