After having read many mixed reviews of this book, I went into my reading of it a bit skeptically. Which is something I don't prefer to do with Paulo Coelho's novels. However, as it turns out, I found "The Winner Stands Alone" to be quite compelling and a bit thought-provoking. It's certainly not in the same category as some of Coelho's other novels, but yes, this novel was indeed enjoyable. I certainly will need to revisit it again after thinking the topic of "desire" a little more.
