- Lamya's stories were really compelling all on their own, integrating them with the stories from the Quran only enhanced that
- there is a deep level of reflection present in the book and self-examination. The part about wanting to be self-sufficient and needed especially stood out to me.
- Lamya's process of coming out, or really inviting in, was also especially tender. It's rare to get representation of queer folks who are out in a lot of ways but also keeping their queerness to themselves around family or other community members for the sake of maintaining the relationships that are important to them.
