Flavia de Luce is one of my favorite female characters in modern literature. In this book, we see her growing up a little, as she deals with life changes and the emotions that come with them.
This is more a coming-of-age story than a mystery; in fact, the mystery feels a little bit tacked on. But Flavia's personal journey is so compelling that it didn't matter.
