I hate miscommunication and/or lack of communication as a plot point.
if she would have just told him or literally anyone else involved "your foster mom told me you were dead", everything could have been solved sooner. Instead she ignores that little tidbit and gets hung up on the fact that he couldn't find her despite her admittedly failed attempts to get in contact with him, and basically blasts her 'if he wanted to, he would've' attitude. I am not here for the toxic masculinity, possessiveness, and raging. Feels like she's going from one abuser (absolutely the worst human ever) to another who we're supposed to like and overlook his toxic behavior, because he is a hero type and rescues her, even though it is some of the same red flags that were noted from the ex husband's relationship.
Writing was also meh. Lot of phrase repetition, confusing dialogue, and weird friend dynamics and conversation topics that are introduced so suddenly and randomly to move along the plot.
