“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

I'm very happy to have read this book. I vaguely remember some parts of the film adaptation, but it's been so long that this book still felt fresh despite a few déjà vu moments. The Medusa inspired elements in this story were pleasant additions to this magical world.

The most unexpected and goody character in this book is Dobby. He tries to warn Harry, but his loyalty to his master—albeit forced—limits him in what he can say.
Harry’s quick thinking freeing Dobby in the end feels completely justified

The most annoying character is Lockhart. He is so full of himself and sells himself as a powerful wizard, when in reality, he is a cowardly imposter. I still can't believe Hermione fancies him.
I also enjoyed Hermione turning
into a cat after taking the Polyjuice Potion.
Even the smartest amongst us can make mistakes.

I thought I knew who the heir of Slytherin was, but I was severely misled.
Percy’s reasons for acting suspicious turned out to be so perfectly mundane. I never expected Ginny to become a pawn in opening the Chamber of Secrets.

Dumbledore needs to step up his game, man!
