This book is not bad. I am glad I read it; however, this is one of the few books I have read where the movie is significantly more developed than the book. The only reason I read the book at all was because Rancho, the main character of the movie, is incredibly inspiring to me as a future teacher, and I wanted to see if the book offered more insight into his character. Well, if you've read the book and watched the movie, then you know that Rancho basically only exists in the movie. The book equivalent, Ryan, may have similar values, but he has no tact. Hari, the narrator, was really the only character in the book that I consistently liked. Ultimately, this is a good light read with entertaining characters and a well-paced plot. If you are expecting something just as inspiring as the movie, either change your expectations or don't read it.
