lhurley16 's review for:
The Beggar King
by Oliver Pötzsch
I really like the way Potzsch has written his books. The character's storylines are separated but not in a way that's jumbled. My tiny gripe with this book is the way Magdalena's character seemed to waiver from previous books. There were portions that I felt were out of character for her.
As always, Kuisl is a strong character in this series and continues to be. His character is a solid anchor in this series so far and learning more about his history helped reveal a different side of him that I greatly enjoyed. Simon is reliably the same but changed - his relationships with various characters in this particular book were very real, and his reactions felt genuine for his character. Even the side characters were interesting and flushed out enough for you to care about them, but not draw the attention away from the storyline.
