The Huntress by Kate Quinn
5.0
I skipped a cookie party at work with the best cookies in town to sit at my desk and listen to the end of this book. Enough said, but I'll go on.
Quinn takes the tale of the wicked stepmother to new heights. Jordan knows that her father's new wife is hiding things about her role in WWII, but she could never imagine the scope of the life "Anna" has left behind. Meanwhile, across the ocean, a trio of Nazi-hunters is slowly closing in on the one war criminal whose capture will finally bring them peace.
Recently I have felt like I could use a break from all the WWII historical fiction, so I was hesitant to pick this up. Luckily, the sense of tension and intrigue right from the start had me cranking up the speed on the libby app and happily volunteering to work on laborious spreadsheets all day to sneak in more listening time. I always love being surprised by a 5 star read.
