The Sad Little Fact
by Jonah Winter
This is a great example of pictures books being "everyone" books, not "little kid" books. This book can start fantastic conversations at all ages. And I appreciate that is doesn't rely on allegory - it addresses global warming, creationism, and European conquest in its facts. Little kids won't get all the details, but there's enough story there to engage both kids and adults.
And people freaking out that it's dark don't seem to notice that it ends optimistically that the facts prevail! All about this book!
