I love Pride and Prejudice, and was excited at the idea of a queer take. It's a very fast read, and the prose is engaging, which makes it all the more disappointing.

The characterization were flat, the characters being forced into a story they no longer belonged in. It almost felt like when a movie adaptation takes the character names and the notion of the events?

Combined with the CONSTANT depression and anger of the narrator, I'm kinda frustrated that this gets to be the award winning book about a transman.
