In this second installment of the Trilogy of the White City, Unai investigates a strange, ritualistic murder of a pregnant woman.
What I Liked
Just like book 1, this novel moves pretty quickly, and you're always getting new information about the mystery. I still loved Unai's relationship to his grandfather and brother. I also liked how we see Unai's reaction to the end of book 1, and how he goes about his healing - that felt realistic.
What I Didn't Like
I dislike when every mystery is somehow tied to the main character, and this book had that in droves. My personal take, but I disliked that Unai was, once again, connected to the events as more than a detective. Also, I really don't like that all close friendship has to come down to romantic love - that was really an unnecessary detail.
Recommendation
This doesn't stand well on its own, but worth a read of book 1 intrigued you.
