Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
by Patrick Süskind
Mixed feelings. On one half I love this books descriptiveness and the story telling and on the other half I was bored by the descriptiveness and storytelling. Sometimes the author rambled on far too long and other times they rambled in such a way that felt beautifully written. Some parts of the book made me sick to my stomach and other parts really hit me hard. So this was the first book I couldn’t tell if I loved or hated and quite frankly I feel both feelings towards it. I can’t describe it in a profound way to make you understand but just know that this book is not bad. It’s well written and much love and thought was put into it. Was I the target audience? No. Absolutely not. Was Kurt Cobain the reason I read this? Yes, yes he was. So read with an open mind and don’t expect murders to happen too much since they only happen in THE LAST 50 PAGES OF THE BOOK. Ugh I’m upset and happy. Sorry for the rant. I need to find something else to read.
