Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee

5.0

I haven’t done a book review in ages but I have to for Forest of Souls!!

I picked this up because it came in a recent FairyLoot and I liked the sound of the plot (the gorgeous cover didn’t hurt either).

I was so gratefully surprised to love this book from the beginning. Here’s what I liked about it:

✔️ Badass female warrior/assassin
✔️ Snarky attitude & comebacks
✔️ Great pacing, didn’t have to wait around for action
✔️ Interesting culture & world
✔️ Cool magic system
✔️ Not centered around a love story—refreshing!
✔️ Interesting lines!!! I’ll list a few.

“There’s a presence somewhere in these gardens. It becomes an ache in my joints, a pressure building inside me like a scream that needs release.”

“I draw the blades at my back, slowly, so that the sound of metal sliding from its sheath is no more than the wind whispering through the old castle stones.”

I’d highly recommend this book! Easy 5
