The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire: As Told by Eyewitnesses by Charles Morris

3.0

'The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire: As Told by Eyewitnesses' by Charles Morris is the story of a terrible disaster that hit a famous city.

In 1906, the city of San Francisco was hit by a terrible earthquake during the night. The earthquake set off fires. The problems compounded when there was no water to fight the fires. The city fought the fires and tried to create fire lines by using dynamite. The book is full of first hand accounts and lots of pictures and paintings of the city before and during the aftermath.

At first, the language came across as a bit flowery and it kind of annoyed me as a reader. As the book went along, I found myself fascinated by this story. I was familiar with it to some extent, but this brought it even more to light. I'm glad I got a chance to read it.
