I was so excited for this book and it really disappointed me. Felt like I was attending every second of the con when we really didn't need to and all the elements of solid story were horribly mishandled. Really inconsistent with where they used real scifi media properties (ie Star Trek) and made up ones for the book (doctor y instead of doctor who) for seemingly no good reason?
On the one hand I want to give the author here credit for making the main character gray spec/ attempting to make an ace main character but I also just didn't buy the romance at all. The alien was very flirty over text and then was basically a cardboard cutout in person.
