i did not expect the seriousness of the situations those young, now older girls, were going through. that was some heavy stuff and honestly i do kind of agree with grandma at the end. this book showed that a mom will stop at literally nothing to protect her daughter while also still making her feel sad and give her feelings of neglect/little support.
