Love, Pamela by Pamela Anderson

adventurous challenging hopeful inspiring lighthearted reflective medium-paced

5.0

Prior to listening to this audiobook, the only thing I knew about Pamela was her face and that she played on Baywatch. I was delightfully surprised to learn how humble and free Pamela is. The memoir touches on a few traumas in her life, but her overall mindset seems to lie with an appreciation of herself, her life, and everything around her. I appreciated her unabashed view on sex – the lack of shame surrounding sex is refreshing – and the way she sees beauty in most things.

A lot of things in Pamela’s life, at least in the way it is written in this memoir, appear to be handed to her or just work out so well. Because I don’t know anything about Pamela outside of this book, it’s hard to know if this is how smoothly everything truly went for her or if this is mostly written this way because of her reliance on manifestation. She does describe some of the abuse from Tommy, but it comes across as very soft around the edges.

I loved reading about how much love Pamela has towards her boys. It made me want to move to the beach for some before-school surfing.

One of the things I’ve been enjoying with memoirs, in general, is the unapologetic presentation of self. Reading about people who are, or appear to be, living their lives as their true selves is refreshing and inspiring.
