When I Was Yours
by Samantha Towle
Good book i enjoyed the plot and the writing was good .
-Even though a second chance romance and childhood sweethearts are one of my disliked tropes but I found that I really enjoyed this book, the authors pulled it off very well which is very rare .
I specifically liked that the female character was the one who messed up and needed forgiveness it was a refreshing change .
Adam's character was very realistic , i found that his reaction to Evie was understandable and deserved , The love of his life who had left him 10 years ago suddenly came back and refused to tell him why she left or give him any information on why she broke his heart. it's understandable that he would be angry and frustrated with her and even said some hurtful things sometimes. but he also couldn't deny his love and attraction for her and I feel like that frustrated him even more. how he wanted to be angry with her but at the same time was still in love with her.
His mother was straight up the devil for what she did to them
Tropes :
-Childhood sweethearts
-Friends to lovers to fuckbuddies ig? To lovers
-second chance romance
-no cheating no ow drama
-female main character was celibate for 10 years during their time apart , the male character was not celibate he admitted to sleeping with alot of women to cope with losing her.
My dislikes :
-masking adam's sex addiction as him being addicted to Evie like no , when she left she caused him to develop both a drug AND sex addiction and he needed help with both.
- Evie in general was very annoying
-Lack of groveling on her part , she hurt him TREMENDOUSLY and continued to lie to him , she needed to grovel for what she did to him even if she had her reasons she could have easily gone about it differently. Like I understand her when she was 18 she was just a child in a very stressful and difficult situation, but 10 years later she's a grown woman she should have made better choices and used her head.
