The Wreckage of Us
by Brittainy C. Cherry
I so wanted to love The Wreckage of Us! But, unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the characters and their story. And while there was a lot of drama and potential heavy issues, they never reached their peak and either mostly fell flat or were dragged for too long.
Maybe it was the fact that the main characters are young (Hazel is 18 and Ian is 24), yet they behaved way older. And while I appreciated how Hazel stepped in being the responsible one and trying to do the right thing, it almost felt unnatural and forced at times. Ian seemed mature at times, and others he behaved like a child.
I did love Ian's grandparents: Big Paw and Holly. They were adorable and imparted the best words of wisdom. Most despicable characters? The Wreckage's manager Max Rider. He. Was. An. Ass.
