The Sanctuary Sparrow by Ellis Peters

3.0

The cynical side of me might argue that the ending is a bit too good, but, as I noted on the first of this series I read, these books have a very optimistic view of humanity. And that's not a bad thing.

On reread: The ending, while still positive, seems much less “too good” to me on this pass. In fact, one could argue that it’s a very bittersweet ending, even for those whose fortunes have improved. There’s quite a lot that cannot be put right, and the central crimes are very much the result of things that could not be put right.
