The Wrong Woman by J.P. Pomare

3.0

have loved the previous JP Pomare books I’ve read. And this book is unlike any of these. In fact your expectations of this book constantly change and keep you on your toes, as much as Vince Reid, a private investigator is glancing over his shoulder in a town he swore he’d never return to. The movement from the past to the present is done well, and the character creation was well done.

Reid, a private investigator, is hired by an insurance company to investigate a car crash where a well known (for some of the wrong reasons) professor, Oliver Styles, is killed, and his wife, Eshana, is in hospital in a coma. Coincidentally, this accident occurs in Reid’s hometown, a place he swore he would never return to which is also the place where two young girls have gone missing – there’s a lot to unpack, get your head around and cunningly this author uses all of these events to spin you around blindfolded as you read on. We also are fed morsels about Reid’s begrudging return right up until the very end. What’s connected? What’s a loose end? What need to be revisited? Reid’s investigator prowess is a strength, and as much as it is a demonstration of his dexterity in solving cases and crimes, it is also the very skill that has kept him safe for all these years. His return is the catalyst for it all to be exposed once again. Grab this one to read, and pay attention!
