The first half of this book was sooooo slow, but at the 50% mark it picked up, thank the gods. I think the side characters and minor characters still are not getting much love or "screen time" three books in, so when a certain character dies or betrays someone, it is less impactful because I am googling who they are as I cannot remember. I think that is also a problem because there are so many characters, dragons, signets, gryphons, venin etc. My brain does not have enough internal storage to keep it all in.
 

Still, the second half was engaging, and there are intriguing threads for the next book, though with the long wait ahead I am bound to forget most of it.
