i’m a bit sad rating this 3.5 stars. i really enjoyed the writing style and premise of the book. the alternating povs from opal to arthur were done super well and made the reading experience more engaging. the romance build-up was very nice, and i love how that ultimately played out. i was pretty into the story for most of the book and loved the idea of a house calling to people. however, i was disappointed by the “reveal”
eleanor being in underland and cursing people for centuries
i was hoping for something grander maybe? it was cool to see what the real starling house story was but the end was just talking essentially. i was expecting more action or a mysterious reveal about a mysterious house but alas. i think this had good themes and overall message but i was just a bit letdown by the end. my first alix e harrow book though, so i will be checking out her other work!
