The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak
5.0

Oh what a gorgeous read! In today's news cycle where everything fills you with anxiety and dread, this book took me to a completely new dimension. I've been a fan of Rumi's poetry for as long as I can remember, but to see the birth of his genius through this book was just fascinating. Elif Shafak's writing has made me a fanboy for life. Centred on the single emotion of LOVE, told through the Sufism but relating it back to modern life, she was able to traverse centuries through basic emotions of spirituality, religion and most of all, humanity. I soaked in every page and had to re-read parts of the book to revel in its beauty. I would recommend this book to anyone who is suffering from anxiety because of Covid-19 and transport yourself into another world.
