Okay, so I have a new favorite Marvel character.
Gwenpool! She was pink, she was fun, and she was so chaotic! I loved it all! I especially loved seeing her character development from the first volume. She goes from someone who kills for fun, who kills for no reason, and who doesn't care about this world or the consequences her actions cause. But, throughout the book, as she makes friends, and loses them, she starts caring, a lot.
And I love how that shows, and I love how that makes her a really relatable character!
Despite her chaotic, goofy persona, she's still just a teenage kid, who's going through a lot. She's just a teen who loves super heroes, who's super nerdy, and who's kinda managing to navigate the world she's been put in. I love how the story shows that, and communicates that Gwen is just.. trying her best, and managing to smile through it. I also love how the story uses her knowledge of the Marvel universe to her advantage. Oh, she knows about a villain, then she can use that to her advantage. Oh, she knows a hero's identity? She can use that against them. It makes her story really compelling, due to the fact that she has to navigate this world of superheroes without having any powers, AND she has to deal with the fact that EVERYONE thinks she's crazy. Especially her heroes.

It was also awesome seeing her become a leader and a better assassin was top tier.

So, yes. I loved her character, loved her design, and I loved the art. Gwen's development throughout the story is so compelling, and seeing her grow more and more attached to people, and seeing the heart break that comes from that.. augh, it really gets you, because they just make her seem like a regular, normal fan girl, who slowly gets her heart broken over and over again by her favorite supers, but keeps hope anyway. (Kinda reminds me of a magical girl, now that I think of it, lol.)
It's an amazing story, with amazing characters, and it takes from multiple points in Marvel history to make a compelling story. So I LOVED it, and it's so worth the read.
