The Friday Night Knitting Club
by Kate Jacobs
I really wanted to like this book. It has a great premise, with a group of women connecting through a knitting club, and all the various ways they support one another through life's crisis'. Some of the characters are very interesting and fun to get to know. However, I had a difficult time liking the main character, and had many eye-roll moments trudging through her "precious" relationship with her t'ween daughter. It felt like the author was trying so hard to portray what a "good" mother is like, and how she responds to situations, that the character turned stale and unreal. And not a person that I was dying to get to know.
Overall, the book was fine. It was "okay." Which, unfortunately, is sometimes worse than being "bad," because then at least it pulls up some sort of emotion from me.
