The Host
by Stephenie Meyer
It took me ages to choose between four and three stars (how I wish I could do half stars). This book was an enjoyable read in a lot of ways. It was an interesting concept, a dramatic love triangle, a group of nicely developed characters and had Meyer's usual gripping writing that pulls one into the story. My negatives were that it took me a while to get into this, initially I wasn't sure if I would even bother reading it through. Also the love story was a little overdone and very reminiscent of a certain vampire/werewolf situation. Lastly the ending was not what I would have preferred. Overall it was a fun read with some interesting thoughts of what it is to be human and around what makes us who we are (body/mind/soul dilemma) but some bits were a little too forced or unbelievable.
