I feel bad rating this so low since I was gifted the ARC but there was just so many problematic lines it just wasn't enjoyable for me. 
Also the constant mention of the off page friend group just felt repetitive and weird. 
I get the whole "alpha" man thing this just came off as cringe. I did like the hellscape world building and actually wanted to know more about that. Had this been just straight fantasy world building I'd have been all for it. 
The relationship just felt forced with the demon and her one friend who made it on the page. Idk .... I finished it...
