This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald
4.0

I find myself not really able to say if I loved this book, merely liked it, or hated it. I think that is because it profoundly affected me so. I listened to this versus reading it. (my job allows me to be able to do so) The more I listened, honestly, the more I saw a reflection of today's world. Entitlement and posers abound in this book and in this world today. Social class systems abound in this fiction and in this real world. The characters, overall, made me feel somewhat scornful of them and yet, I pitied them also.

To me, Amory struggled with his identity. Born into wealth and high society, by the end he has lost parents, friends, fiance', and the money. But, in his final statement of the book he says, "I know myself, and that is all." He knew who he was. He may not know where he was going but he knew who he was. That is a great step.
