Dream On by Jennifer Hartmann

If you're on the fence about picking up this book because it's categorized as "YA," do not let that sway you in any way. YA for Jennifer Hartmann is a normal NA contemporary romance from another author. I don't think I would necessarily consider this Young Adult after reading it.

Yet again, Jennifer Hartmann brings the heartache in this novel. She conveys feelings and emotions in such a way where I can feel everything so clearly. As someone who struggles with verbalizing certain thoughts and emotions, reading them through Hartmann's eye definitely helps me put everything into perspective. I saw somewhere that she has her PhD in Psychology and after reading that, I am not surprised by that whatsoever. I can't wait for her to break my heart in her next novel.

Lex and Stevie are the leads in their High School's adaptation of Moulin Rouge and begin to form an unlikely friendship. Stevie is a small-town farm girl, and Lex is a famous actor who re-located to her town from LA. One night, after few too many drinks and a little too much confidence, Stevie decides to make her move on Lex, only to be brutally rejected. Now, Four years later without a word to one another, Lex releases a dramatic interpretation of their story in the form of a limited tv series. Now his team thinks it would be a great idea for Lex to fly Stevie to LA and have them fake date to keep the buzz from the show going. Only thing is, there is way too much baggage between the two of them for them to try to make it believable.
